Native to mountainous regions of Southeastern Europe, particularly the Balkans, Euphorbia myrsinites has a hardiness zone of 4b. It can be planted as an annual in gardens. This succulent plant forms dense clumps of fleshy, thick stems that spread horizontally along the ground. The stems have an attractive blue-green hue, which can sometimes turn reddish when exposed to intense sunlight. The stems are also dotted with small, thick leaves arranged spirally along them. These leaves are lanceolate in shape and often have a gray-green color. The plant thrives in well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. In addition to its visual appeal, Euphorbia myrsinites produces vibrant yellow flowers in spring. These flowers are arranged in small umbels at the tops of the stems and add a splash of vivid color to the plant.
