Tillandsia balbisiana is native to Mexico, Central America, Venezuela, Colombia, the West Indies, and Florida. It is bright green but will turn yellowish green in bright light. Balbisiana can grow to be quite large, sometimes reaching over 50 cm long! When in bloom, it has a long inflorescence that can be up to 15 cm long with reddish yellow flower buds.
